CSS Problems
It has come to my attention that the "new look" for the blog doesn't display correctly in IE6. Just ignore this entry if you're not interested. It has come to my attention that the "new look" for the blog doesn't display correctly in IE6.I'm at a loss to understand what is causing IE6 to interpret CSS directives differently from Opera and Mozilla and even my previous IE version, IE5.01. I'm learning much more about the subject that I care to know, though. I figure I'll eventually start to grok things, but until then please bear with the site's looks if it displays incorrectly for you.
I have partly fixed the problem, apparently, thanks to this writeup of IE6 display bugs and some operations which I can only describe as "voodoo debugging" - I've added CSS code to my stylesheet which I absolutely have no idea why it has the effect it has, but I'm happy with it.
There were two problems: the first is that some of the text wouldn't display until you started scrolling around a bit, and this now appears no longer to be the case.
The second (which as far as I can tell applies to Movable Type's default templates, not just to my own attempts at an original look) is that the content area of the blog extends off the right of the browser window. This still seems to be the case.
